Hey everyone, this is Panda, the reporter from PTV. In Hong Kong, the fast – paced lifestyle has made every Hongkonger super busy. Working people are always on the go, and even getting a good night’s sleep has become a luxury. Two Hong Kong youths in their 90s, Chongsum and Keevin, spotted a business opportunity in this situation. They bravely used up all their savings and opened a “Nap Room" in an industrial building in Chai Wan. Their aim is to provide a space where people can just relax and unwind.

The 90s Hong Kong Youth's Entrepreneurial Journey

These hammocks look simple but are really sturdy. Once you lie on one, you can instantly shake off all your tiredness.

When you enter the Nap Room, there are about a dozen hand – woven Mayan hammocks neatly arranged in a space of around 1,600 square feet. These hammocks look simple but are really sturdy. Once you lie on one, you can instantly shake off all your tiredness. They mainly target office workers aged 20 – 35. The charging system is time – based. It costs $58 for the first hour on weekdays, $78 on weekends and public holidays, and then $15 for every half – hour after that. It’s only been more than two months since it opened, but it has already attracted quite a number of customers who are eager to relax.

However, starting a business is never easy. Not everyone has the guts and money to invest like they did. Sophia, the business manager of GTT Real Estate, shared her thoughts during an interview. She said that for entrepreneurs, having their own property is quite important. Take Young Space, a project carefully developed by GTT Real Estate, for example. It’s only for sale, not for rent. On its official website https://youngspacehk.com/cn, you can find all the details. It offers open – plan units ranging from 53 to 4,500 square feet, which can meet the needs of different – sized startup teams. If entrepreneurs can afford to buy a place like this, when the business is booming, they can use it as an office. And if the business doesn’t go well, they can rent it out, just as Sophia said, so they won’t lose everything.

Young Space doesn’t only have flexible spaces. It also has great facilities. The hotel – style lobby is high – end and makes people feel motivated as soon as they step in. With 24 – hour security and smart access control, people feel really safe. The corridors are built to the standards of Grade A office buildings, wide and bright. There are also special platform rest areas and a barbecue park, where people can relax during breaks. Comparing it with Chongsum and Keevin’s Nap Room, although the Nap Room doesn’t have as many business – related facilities, their unique idea has still allowed them to take a bold step in the business world.

Starting a business involves many aspects such as capital, location, and operation, and every step matters. Young Space is really attentive in its operation and management. It collaborates with Champagne Group. Besides basic management services, it also offers business support like secretary and administrative assistant services. There’s a professional engineering team on standby to solve any facility problems. The management fee is calculated at per hk$2.5 square feet, which is very clear and reasonable. This saves entrepreneurs a lot of headaches. The Nap Room is still in the exploration stage, but their courage and determination are really admirable.

So, what do you guys think about the business project of these 90s Hong Kong youths? If you were in that position, would you invest in a project like the Nap Room? When it comes to choosing a business location, do you think facilities like those in Young Space are more important, or would you prefer a cheaper – rent place?
